B.A. (Oxon.), Arts : Lieutenant, A.F.C. and 53rd Battn., A.I.F., France and England. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at Worcester College. Enlisting 3rd March, 1916, and sailing 7th October with 6th Reinforcements, joined battn. 8th February, 1917, and served at Hindenburg Line and Bullecourt, where wounded 19th May. Transferring to A.F.C. in November, was commissioned 22nd April, 1918, and promoted lieutenant, 22nd July, returning 31st August, 1920.
