B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Lieutenant, A.F.C., and 12th A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine and England. Enlisting 20th May, 1915, and sailing 13th June with regt., served in Gallipoli from August till the Evacuation and then in Sinai Desert and Palestine at Gaza, Beersheba, Advance to Jerusalem and Jordan Valley. Transferring to A.F.C. in April, 1918, was trained in England until demobilisation. Promoted corporal, March, 1917; sergeant, February, 1918, and second-lieutenant, 2nd October. A.M.F. : Lieutenant-Colonel, 1st July, 1935. Early education at Fort St. High School.
