Enlisting 6th July, 1915, and sailing on 12th as lieutenant, served at Dental Corps, Perham Downs. From 9th August to 1st December, 1917, was S.D.O. No. 4 Group Depots, United Kingdom, and Staff Officer in charge of Dental Services, Palestine, till 26th December, 1918. Promoted captain, 1st November, 1916; major, 1st December, 1917. Mentioned in Despatches. B.D.S. : Major, A.A.M.C. (Dental Services), A.I.F., England and Palestine. Early education at East Maitland High School.
