B.D.S. : Private, 45th Battn. A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st February, 1916, and sailing 22nd May, joined battn. in France and served till severely wounded at Ypres by high explosive shell, 2nd October, and evacuated to hospitals at Poperinghe, Boulogne, Wandsworth and Southall and thence to Australia, arriving 14th September, 1917. Early education at Kempsey District School. Later one year in Arts.
