B.A. : Captain, 36th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 19th December, 1915, joined 36th Battn. as secondlieutenant 16th March, 1916, and, sailing 13th May, crossed to France in November. Served in Armentieres, Messines, Ypres, Somme and Villers-Bretonneux sectors, being Gas Officer, Brigade H.Q., from December, 1916, to January, 1917, and acting Intelligence Officer during part of 1917. From January to April, 1919, was Officer in Charge, Mathematical Instruction, Corps School, Rue. Promoted captain, 20th July, 1917. Early education at Singleton Grammar and Sydney High Schools.
