Enlisting 1st July, 1917, and sailing 8th August, served at No. 1 Australian General Hospital till December and then with 3rd Australian Division till the Armistice. Demobilised in England 19th September, 1919, after three months'' non-military employment, later returning to Australia from Research Work at Oxford. Rockefeller Foundation Fellow. Honorary Consulting Physiologist, Sydney Hospital.

1. Respiratory Function in Disease 1925, London ;  co-author Prof JC Meakins.
2. He also published with C. G. Lambie and others on the use of insulin in diabetic patients.

Captain Davies' father was the famous Professor EH Davies who was appointed Director of the Elder Conservatorium of Music and Elder Professor of Music in 1919. Professor Davies served twenty-eight years as Dean of the Faculty of Music.
