Enlisting and sailing in November, 1916, was at Tidworth, Lark Hill and Harefield Hospitals and No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Boulogne. Then, joining 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, Steenwerck, served as member of special surgical team, working at 44th (British) C.C.S., Poperinghe and 56th, La Bohaine, and until demobilisation. Early education at Christ''s College, Christchurch, New Zealand, Brentwood (England) and Toowoomba Grammar Schools. Later at St. Paul's College.
