Med. : Staff-Sergeant, 104th Howitzer Battery and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 5th October, 1914, sailed with hospital ship Kyarra 21st November to Egypt and back, arriving 19th July, 1915. Reembarking 15th November with Divisional Ammunition Column, transferred to battery in July, 1916, serving in Pozieres, Flers, Bullecourt and Ypres sectors till wounded at Hell Fire Corner, 15th August, 1917, and evacuated to England. Posted to A.I.F. Depots, United Kingdom, in January, 1918, and appointed Orderly Room Staff- Sergeant, Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, 16th October, returning 2nd February, 1920. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
