B.A. : Captain, 47th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting from Permanent Forces as lieutenant 20th May, 1916, and sailing 8th August with 2nd Reinforcements 40th Battn., joined 47th in November and was in Bullecourt, Messines and Ypres sectors until wounded at Passchendaele 12th October. On recovery rejoined battn. and fought at Dernancourt, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere, joining A.I.F. Depots, United Kingdom, 3rd December, 1918, and serving until demobilisation. Promoted captain, 1st April, 1917. Early education at Richmond and Manly Public Schools. Later at Teachers'' College.
