Econ. I : Private, A.A.M.C., and 54th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 21st April, 1915, and joining No. 3 Australian General Hospital on its formation, sailed 15th May to England and Lemnos, serving with it until after the Evacuation. Transferred to 54th Battn. in Egypt, 3rd June, 1916, and, crossing to France, fought in the Fleurbaix sector till wounded at Fromelles, 20th July, and evacuated to hospital and thence to Australia, arriving 13th February, 1917. Early education at Katandra College and Sydney Grammar School.
