Enlisting 29th October, 1915, and sailing 10th May, 1917, as lieutenant, served at 1st Training Brigade in England, later at No. 98 Australian Reinforcement Camp and until demobilisation. Promoted captain, 10th May, 1918. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
