D.S.O., V.D., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.C.S., F.R.C.S. (Edin.), F.R.A.C.S. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, France and England. Enlisting in September, 1914, and sailing 25th June, 1915, served with 5th Australian Field Ambulance at Gallipoli, as captain in charge of Bearer Division till the Evacuation, at Suez Canal Defences till March, 1916, and in France till 25th September, 1917. Then appointed D.A.D.M.S. Australian Corps H.Q., France. In September, 1918, transferred to England as A.D.M.S., A.I.F. H.Q., Tidworth, serving there till February, 1919, and then at H.Q., London, returning privately via U.S.A., 5th October, 1921, after post-graduate courses. Promoted major, 14th November, 19 16; lieutenant-colonel, 21st November, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1918, and Medaille des Epidemies en argent and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : Commanded 5th F.Amb., 1929-33. Tutor in Clinical Gynaecology. Early education at Sydney High School.
