Econ. : Bombardier, 37th and noth Batteries, A.F.A., and 1st Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 7th June, 1915, and sailing with 8th Reinforcements 1st Battn. 9th August, served at Gallipoli till invalided in November. Rejoined battn. but transferred to 4th Divisional Artillery on formation and, after serving in Canal Zone and Sinai, crossed to France in June, 1916. Took part continuously with 37th and noth Batteries in all engagements until the Armistice—Chapelle, Armentieres, Pozieres, Somme, Bullecourt, Messines, Passchendaele, Cambrai, Villers-Bretonneux, Hindenburg Line and elsewhere, though wounded slightly at Messines. Early education at Toowoomba High School.
