B.A. : Lieutenant, 2nd Machine Gun and 13th Battns., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 13th January, 1917, and sailing 7th February with 24th Reinforcements, served with 13th Battn. till October. Qualifying at Codford as 1st Class Lewis Gunner, was transferred to 7th M.G. Coy. 16th October and then, returning to France, served until demobilisation. Promoted corporal, March, 1918; second-lieutenant, 13th January, 1919, and lieutenant, 3rd April. Early education at All Saints'' College, Bathurst.
