Enlisting 3rd December, 1917, and sailing 1st September, 1918, after six months at No. 17 Australian General Hospital, Brisbane, served in operating theatre No. 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, for nine months, returning for demobilisation. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School. Later at Queensland University.
