B.A., B.Ec. : Lieutenant, 13th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Holding commission with A.M.F., enlisted in October, 1914, and sailing as lieutenant in April, 1915, with reinforcements, joined Battn. at Anzac 14th June. Wounded at Hill 60, Gallipoli, 27th August and evacuated to 2nd London General Hospital, Chelsea, returning to Australia as adjutant on Themistocles in May, 1916. After three months in Randwick Hospital was appointed to Liverpool Camp and thence to 24th Reinforcements, rejoining battn. in June, 1917, and serving at Messines, Polygon Wood, Hebuterne, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere. Appointed Education Officer in October, 1918, and transferred to Pay Corps in December, remaining with it till demobilisation. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
