D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli and Palestine. Enlisting in August, 1914, and sailing 5th February, 1915, served as M.O., Alexandria, in March and April, at Gallipoli as Transport Officer, No. 1 Australian General Hospital, and from June as R.M.O. 9th Battn. and 4th and 6th A.L.H. Regts. for short periods. After the Evacuation was R.M.O. 6th Regt. till 26th June, 1917, and in temporary command of No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, El Arish and Moascar till transferred as second in command 1st A.L.H. Field Ambulance one month before Beersheba. During Advance to Jerusalem was in charge of Anzac Receiving Station and then O.C. 2nd A.L.H.F.Amb. till demobilisation. Promoted major, 14th November, 1916, lieutenant-colonel, n th November, 1918. Awarded D.S.O. 12th December, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Mudgee Grammar School and Barker College. Later at St. Andrew''s.
