Arts II : Lieutenant, 45th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st September, 1915, and sailing in January, 1916, joined battn. in Egypt 6th March and, crossing to France, served at Armentieres, Bullecourt and elsewhere till death. Promoted from N.C.O. to second-lieutenant in April, 1917. Killed in Action, Messines, 9th June, 1917. Commemorated in Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Member of S.U. Scouts and A.M.F. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School.
