M.B. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting and sailing in October, 1915, served in Egypt till June, 1916. Joined Anzac Provost Corps in France 6th July, Training Depots in England 17th February, 1917, and Administrative H.Q., London, 28th October. Crossing to France, transferred to 1st Australian Field Ambulance 18th December, being R.M.O. 1st Field Artillery Brigade from 29th February, 1918, to 21st April. Then was with 6th A.F.Amb. from 28th May, being R.M.O. 23rd Battn. from 4th June to 11th September and No. 2 Divisional Train from 8th November, serving till demobilisation. President, Undergraduates'' Association. Vice-President, Union. Early education at Sydney Grammar School (Dux). Later at St. Andrew's College.

He wrote on cricket for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Sydney Mail, and published two textbooks, The Making of a Cricketer and Cricket Coaching, and Anti Bodyline in collaboration with Alan Kippax.
