LL.B. : Lieutenant, 2nd Battn., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 14th March, 1915, and sailing 9th November, served as sergeant with 30th Battn. on Suez Canal Defences and at Tel-el- Kebir. Crossing to France with 2nd Battn., fought at Fleurbaix, Somme, Pozieres, Ypres salient, Bullecourt, Ypres III, Menin Road, Passchendaele and Mt. Kemmel, being invalided to Australia in June, 1918. Promoted second-lieutenant, March, 1916, and lieutenant in August; Staff Captain, 1st Australian Infantry Brigade, December, 1917. Mentioned in Army Orders twice.
